For a grown-up

Talk about what must, might or cannot happen. Use the whole collection, rather than one result, to explain a prediction.

Each counter has the same chance of being picked. Picks are made without looking, with replacement and mixing. The spinner chooses a direction at random; larger coloured areas are more likely.

Here, “possible” means it could happen but is not certain. A less likely outcome can still happen. A prediction need not match the result.

Use real counters and a bag alongside the pictures. R, B and Y label red, blue and yellow. Pupils can point, tap, drag or explain aloud.
